I see a little time has lapsed...

Its been a few days since I've gotten to sit down and write anything in my journal.  Alright, so its closer to a week.  Let's see...

October 10th -
A hunting we went.  We again  headed into the siege, our merry band and I, to try and vanquish the Sha of Pride.  He proved to be a mighty foe that evening, but little did he know, his days were numbered.

October 11th and 12th - You didn't miss anything :)

October 13th -
Good ole' Sunday the 13th    Our mighty band was scattered to the four winds.  We pulled together those of us that could be found.  Alachaas stood in front of the Sha and showed him some pride of his own.   At his side, we threw Hawkito.  Al clapped him on the back and they prepared for battle.

The Sha pushed us back the first couple of times we attacked, but finally, amongst the clatter of weapons and armor, voices arose..

"We've got this!  Attack, attack"

"Just breathe!"

And then a deathly howl arose as the great beast fell.  The Sha of Pride was defeated.

Great job, Team!   4 Foes defeated.

I have broken through another barrier!

I wandered around Timeless some last night.  Hopped to one chest, died dropping to another (ehh, I never was good at aiming to land on a target.  Ask the people at the Darkmoon Faire).

I helped out with the Ghost Ship and I tagged something else as I ran by.  I managed to get some Timeless coins together so I went to explore the Monkey Treasure Chest Cave.  <- That's my new name for it.

As usual, I bypassed all the big shiny chests and went looking for all the small, mundane-looking, passed-over chests.  What did my hunting yeild?    A new shiny ring!!   And what did that do for me?  I am now ilvl 501!   I've broken the 500 barrier!

Alright, so while that is incredibly exciting for me, I'm sure not everyone was impressed.  So thank you to those who were happy for me :)

I didn't end up getting much else accomplished.  In real life, I still have a ripped up house from our impromptu, unexpected remodel.  The contractor was out today to get all his info together to make his estimate.  Still waiting to find out when my house will be put back together, better than before.

That said, I hope to venture around Azeroth tonight and see what else I can upgrade and get myself into.  Maybe I'll finally have enough sit-down time at my desk to actually get into an LFR like I keep wanting to.

I suppose we'll just have to see what happens.

Sunday Funnies

Last night, the raid team ventured behind Norushen into the lair of the Sha of Pride.  He was big.  He was ugly.  And we almost had him!

What a fight! There were bodies everywhere!
Run here!
Run there!
Run away!   (Sir Robin's minstrels may or may not have made an appearance.)
Run back!
And people kept getting thrown into prison (what's with that!?  Stop getting caught!)

And above all ?  It was FUN!

And it was crazy.  I had Holy Word: Sanctuary down for the tanks and kept refreshing that as often as I could.  I had a lightwell going for them, too.  And I kept tossing group heals.

The debuffing that was needed sucked if you didn't get the Gift of the Titans.  I got it a bunch of times, but most often, I'd get it at the very beginning of the fight when no one needed it.

Chaotic and fun, with people I am coming to really enjoy the company of.  It was awesome.

Confession...

I said to the raid  "The power of Pride compels thee!  The power of Pride compels thee!"

And only one person got it.  Thanks for having my back, Medi :)

Confession for this morning...

Not necessarily due to the raid, I am tired today.  The cheap coffee here today sucks.  And I'm out of coffee creamer at work. Yes, I could spring for the coffee in the cafeteria, but that doesn't cover the fact that the coffee sucked.

I'm so tired I can't even keep writing this in character!

Thursday Night Rumble

This week has been a little strange in Real World land, but luckily Azeroth has been helping that!

On Wednesday, I stayed camped in my room at the inn for the most part, burning the midnight candles, as they say.  I spent a long time pouring over my books, reading my spell book, reorganizing and re-memorizing spells.   I also made myself more familiar with Charkra states and glyphs and I think I made myself more battle ready.

To test my preparations, I ventured out with FERT

First, shout out to Serota!  Serota brought me a beautiful new Dragonstrike, Reborn mace (ilvl 502).  To compliment it, I was also presented with an Inscribed Red Fan (ilvl 476).  They are wonderful!
I think Alachaas may have had a hand in that, too..

Second, shout out to the Panda Trio (2nd boss in SoO), for the pretty bracers.  The Trio provided me with Lifebane Bracers (ilvl 540).

Overall, the new ilvl is 498!!

And without further ado...

We took down the 3rd Boss!  Yay!  After several attempts and a dwindling raid, we got him!

It was so exciting, and I was happy that everyone was so happy.

Yes, that made perfect sense.

Confession...

I mentioned how I rearranged my spells and got myself already.  That part was great!  I had better use of my mana pool.  I was able to have healing symbols on the ground, my lifewell in action, party heals galore and the return of Holy Nova.

But..

I was actually still not even close to topping some of the top healers.  Not that I'm trying to do better than anyone, but I would like to be on par with everyone.

I know I'm getting there, and I know I did a ton better!  I just know that I can do better still and that's what I need to look into.

I'll get there.  In the meantime, Go Team!

The Monday Night Blues.. Or purples, as it may be

Yesterday, I ventured to the Timeless Isle again, in search of the pieces of gear I need to upgrade and some Burdens to make them better.

I am quite annoyed at my burdens of late.  I did get one 2 nights ago, and upgraded a pair of shoes (Shoes are important. I've mentioned this) and the resulting pair of shoes had an ilvl of 33 more points than the ones I had on, but removed ALL the spirit.  NO spirit on these shoes.  Nor did it give me any stat that could be reforged into spirit.  Nothing was green on this at all!

I was so angry.  What a waste!  A pretty pair of shoes, and although the ilvl was a little higher, I not only need a higher ilvl, I need the spirit!

So, last night I was there.  Looking for burdens and gear.  I got in on 2 rares kills (no drops for me, just coins and stones and a lesser charm), and took my coins for a gamble of chests.

And I got gear!  But they were duplicates to things sitting in my bags currently.   And not one burden.

I was already tired and annoyed, so I kept it short.  I went back to my inn to sleep.  Hopefully tonight is a better night.

Confession - When I'm tired and cranky, I want to strangle that large over-sized monkey and take all his keys to those chests!

I will also say that my approach to the chests in that room is a throw back to Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.  I only choose from the small chests that line the room.  Not the blingy ones.   To date, I've gotten several burdens over all, lots and lots of timeless pieces, and 3 Bongos and a lot of coin..

Maybe there really is something to that old adages "Less is More" and "Don't judge a book (or chest) by it's cover."

Sunday night brawls and dungeon crawls

Last night was a long night.  And it was fun. And frustrating.  And did I mention it was fun?

We got the 3rd boss down to 5% twice!  That's fantastic. We are almost there!  I wish it wasn't 10:30 when we had to call it.  Would have loved to try again, but so many of us had to get up early this morning.

Confession #1- still having issues and it wasn't the wine! (though, it was fun to blame the wine)

So there's a part of the fight where you go down below, and you have 3 NPCs to heal and dispell, while keeping yourself healed, dispelled and alive.

I cannot take the damage.  It seemed like every time I thought I was getting somewhere, I would get the crap on me, dispell it, and be so low in health from it, that while I'm healing myself, the next hit takes me out.

Granted, the last few attempts, I didn't go below at all.  And with the extra spirit I did have, I was able to work the mana pool rather well.. I would still get really low, but I was still able to pull out some good heals if I could keep from getting killed.

Confession #2 - I need to re-read my spell books.

I am still learning which spells of mine of old have been tweeked, nerfed, addressed, and generally just changed.

Lightwell is actually usefull.

Gone are the days of inconvenience where someone had to click on it to make use of it.  It heals on its own.  And I like it.  I think that helped me reserve mana to a degree because I wasn't having to throw heals constantly.

Of course, that does make me wonder what else has changed.

I've been doing a lot of reading, and I found more stuff last night that I need to see if it gives me more info than I already have.

I'm really hoping that I can get this figured out.  It is frustrating to reach for that spell and to be out of mana.  It is frustrating to die so easily.  Yes, I know I'm a cloth-wearing priestess, but still..

And no, my fishing pole was securely tucked away in my bags.

Even Priestesses have their off nights..

No, really.. This is an off-night.  I have been sampling the wines and sitting amongst friends this evening.  Now I am drinking water, watching the ASU torment USC and I'm rehydrating before bed.

Tomorrow, I plan to be somewhat productive.  Between loads of laundry (even a Priestess has to do laundry) and meal planning, I plan to finish out some quests and see what kind of upgrade I can come in contact with.  I may even try some LFR before raiding with the gang tomorrow night.

Confession - Two days off is good for the soul.  I tried venturing out earlier today and just was not feeling.  Breaks are good!  If you haven't had one lately, you should.  Lots of things going on in the world besides the fight of Good vs Evil vs Hellscream!

The Quest for Hellscream

So, maybe not a quest... but an Epic Adventure!

Several weeks ago, I found myself able to join in with an amazingly fun group of people in Azeroth.  The leaders, who recently changed the name of this band, call it F.E.R.T (Flexy Encounters Raid Team).

Our goal currently is to work ourselves towards toppling Garrosh Hellscream.  He's the current leader of the Horde, and he's a bit loony.  Ok, really loony.  Insane, really..  He even attacked the Pandas.  Who attacks the Pandas??

Confession -

These crazy ventures to take down Hellscream's minions is exhausting!  Don't get me wrong, its fun!  But it depletes my mana reserves to no end!  This is why I've been trying to work on that ilvl.  I really need better gear and clothes that will help channel my mana...    Ok, so I'm trying to find a fancy away to say my mana regen sucks!  Sucks, Sucks, Sucks!

I don't know how I can't have enough Spirit!  I'm always in it 110% !

But apparently they mean Spirit, the stat.  And by They, I don't mean anyone in particular.  The gods perhaps.

Anyway, this one is a short entry.  The real world is beckoning.  That's what Fridays are for!

Some nights are better than others...

Well, last night was a bit of a strange one.. wasn't it?

I start off near the Pandarians that take care of the cloud serpents.  I went egg-hunting for them.  I didn't get a chance to find any because something else came up!

Nalak!  I get lucky! (or so I thought)  I had just finished saying yesterday how I had to go and defeat Nalak, and some fellow adventurers needed to get to him, too!   How wonderful!  So I join them!

But they weren't there to defeat him.  Nope.  They just needed to stab at him with a spear and run away.  I perished probably...  4x and had to be resurrected.  My poor dress!  And my back hurts a bit..  feet, too..  Alright! I hurt all over.  Dieing and ressing and dieing and ressing..  That's quite the strain on your body!

And so, I was face to face with Nalak.  And we didn't kill him.   The most we had there were 9 or 10.  And well, we could have used more.

Oh well, I will face him again.

I then traveled back over to the Timeless Isle.  I revisited Houlon.  Its becoming an on again, off again relationship.  I seek him out, help kill him..  he goes away and I leave to go on my way.   I got another egg.  All these minor lesser things...  some coin..

No one liked my song about the lesser things..

Someone asked What are you supposed to do with Lesser Charms?

So I replied..    Frost them!  Frosted Lesser Charms.. They're magically mediocre..

Well, I couldn't very well say delicious, now could I?

Confession...

Last night was rather wasteful.  I didn't get a lot accomplished.  A little rep.. A little Houlon..  got another Timeless dress and a hat I think.  I'm trying to get myself some more bounties so that I can make them even more spectacular.  Kind of like bedazzling my new clothes.

You should try it!
or not.

Dragons and leather

Last night's adventures proved to be rather interesting, indeed.

I went ahead and traveled to the Isle of Thunder.  I didn't want to, but since I told you I was going, I figured I had better.

Note to self - watch what you put in writing or else you're going to have to actually do it.

The leadership there was still in a bit of disarray, but they had no problems sending me off to fight things that were a lot bigger than me.  Literally.  Those 2 stone statue guys must have been 10x my height, and I'm a sexy, tall blood elf!

But after I finished all their tasks, they go and tell me "Hey, gather up some friends!" and I'm thinking to myself, Yay! Finally time to party!

They had to go and pop that bubble, though.  A Dragon?  I have to kill a dragon?

It isn't that I haven't actually helped defeat him before.. I have.  Its just never been MY task.  I like to help..  Now I have to gather a small army?  Oh brother!

I headed back over to Timeless after that.  I get there in time for Houlon again!  Always fun to drop some special healer-pizazz damage on Houlon and a Heal or two for the rest...  I was so proud of myself!   I finally find his remains in the middle of the mob of other adventurers and what do I find for myself?  A stone, and egg and leather bracers.

Confession,..

I should be able to wear leather when ever I want to!  I understand that I can't wear the leather when I need to be holding my own in a raid situation.. But if I want to strut around in my room at the inn wearing all the leather I've collected from creatures across Azeroth that I can't wear otherwise, I should be able to!  Its a free country!   Well..  Ok it isn't free.  Hellscream is still a little crazy, but we're working on getting to him to take him down.

And on a side note... His minion bosses are awful!  We'll try again for the next one tomorrow.  I hear we're setting up another ambush or something...

Angelic wings.. almost make me seem Angelic..

There are days when I just wonder..  Now what?

Last night, I did venture out again before heading to bed.  I went to visit the Pandarians that take care of the Cloud Serpents again.  Apparently I have some duels I need to do.  The first one didn't work out very well.  I'm pretty sure she cheated.  She kept stunning me, and I of course can't really stun her back like that.  It really wasn't fair.   So I walked away to figure out a better strategy.

Nymphandora came by to visit.  She brought me a Minor Glyph.  I was pretty excited because I just read up on these.  Major Glyphs can grant me some benefits, and minor ones can make wondrous things occur.

Take the one she gave me last night.  Every time I cast a healing spell, I sprout angel wings!   How COOL is that?  Now I have wings when I'm alive AND dead!

Tonight, I think I may end up traveling towards the Isle of Thunder again.  I shudder to think of the place.  Its first impression left me wanting for cheerier places.

It also left me dead.
Repeatedly.

I've had more success now that I've gained that ilvl 493 thingy.  Much better quality clothes now than when I tried the first time.

Confession...

The first time I went there?  It was right after I had been fishing for those pesky Pandarians.

Yep, you guessed it.   I was fighting with my fishing pole equipped.  I deserved to be pounded into that dreary gray earth.  Maybe not as many times as they did it, but I deserved at least a few.

How long does it take one to realize this, you ask?  Surely, after the first few times, I'd have figured out something was wrong.  Most of my gear was red before I finally gave up, went to repair, and noticed that I had a staff in my bags!   Yes, yes I did.  It was mine.  And in my hand was a broken stick with some string that was once a fishing pole.

Well, time to go venture out of my room here at the inn.  Maybe I'll even get something to show for it.

Newly raised to Priestess of the 90th level.. NOW what?

I don't even know where to begin.  One would think that the people of Azeroth, Pandaria in particular, might stop needing me to go get things for them, or kill things for them, once I reached the ultimate culmination of all my training.

~ Level 90 ~

I can still hear the trumpets that blared.. in my head.  But really.  What now?  All this power of healing and what do I do with it?

I began to quest... again.

The pandas that worship the Cloud Serpents are nice enough, I suppose.  I wouldn't mind having a cloud serpent to sail on the winds with.  How much turtle meat can this little guy really eat?  And the Pandas want fish?  Oh, and don't forget about all these Elite creatures they want me to kill.

I also found this island.  Timeless, they call it..  I can see why.  Time rather drags as you run around and try not to die as you find chests and avoid the creatures that lurk there that will kill you while you look for the ones you can actually fight.  But of course, I'm a priestess. It makes it a little hard.

I got myself some new clothes though.. and some new jewelry.  I even got some new shoes.

Very Important.

I got up to this thing called an iLevel with a 493.  I thought I was doing really well.  And I started venturing with my friend Allanya's group.  And it is super fun.

But.

Confession...   I apparently still suck.

I am finding that I need to study my spell book even more.  And I have been reaching out to my old teachers to find out why the hell they didn't teach me some of this stuff.   Something about skipping school for 7 years and then jumping ahead a few grades.

Who knew that skipping some of the levels (70-80) would make such a difference?

As a Priestess since the beginning of time, I do know how to be a great healer!  Heal the raid, heal the tank, heal who ever is dying.  But what is hurting me those most right now is waiting for my mana to replenish.  And apparently spell haste is also important.

I finally opened my school book Spells: How to Cast Faster.

There is so much I still have to learn.   But my new friends are GREAT!  And they are patient with me.  And though, I certainly don't rank highest when it comes to who can cast the most and heal the most...  I am managing with what I do have.

I really need to go now, though.  I have to search more books on how to improve my Spirit so that I can replenish mana faster.   Who knew these old dusty school books would still be useful?

~Saisri

Setting the tone... the first post

This blog will tell the story of Saisri, a newly lvl 90 priestess in the lands of World of Warcraft.

After a nearly 7 year hiatus, I returned in March to Azeroth to reprise my role of the Holy Priestess of... well, she isn't Alliance anymore.   I returned to the game, and with the advice of a friend, converted from Alliance to Horde on a different server, the Earthen Ring.

I came back to a game that resembled what I once knew, but so many changes.  When I returned, I used the Scroll to transfer and bump my character from 70 to 80, and then began the process of leveling to 90.

But I joined... The Horde!

What was I thinking?  I don't know how to play Horde!  What color flag do I run towards now?  Wait, those guards are on MY side?   My first couple of months back were frightening! and Disorienting.

And what are these new spells?  and what happened to the Talent Tree??  It's a box.  With rows and columns.  And I don't have to buy my new spells?  Alright, I'm ok with that part.

I'm still trying to learn about Chakras and Glyphs and a ton of different things.

But this is about Saisri as she stumbles along and learns to make her way in.....

World of Warcraft.
